Leonardo Series – TCMA

Turrets with rotating tools with external modular driven tool sistem, which is applied externally on the TC standard turrets.

Only the tool in the working position is driven.

Automatic engagement and disengagement of rotating tool during turret indexing cycle (difficult orientations of the rotating tool shaft are eliminated – DEAD TIME SAVING).

Use of ISO 10889 (ex DIN 69880) discs.

Every position on the tooldisc can receive either toolholder with rotating of fixed tool.

Compact overall dimensions of the driven tool system do not effect the working capacity of the lathe.

The driven tool motor (M) drives the tool holder (U) by means of a transmission gearing (I) and a frontal Hirth-like Clutch (H).

Before disc indexing procedure the coupling (H) disengages automatically tool holder (U) (shaft as per ISO 10889 norms) moving backward by means of  piston (P2).

During the locking sequence of the turret, the opposite stroke of the piston (P2) moves the coupling (H) forward that engages as well the tool holder (U).

The locking and unlocking status of the live tool clutch is constantly monitored by 2 inductive sensors.
